    Extremely high idle

2016 engine is manual throttle and none of the electronic components can affect idle that much. As you changed to the motion pro throttle you have the cables probably not regulated correctly so the butterfly valve does not close properly.

    Building a 2022 race bike

The regulations specific to country/class of course change what the favourite bike might turn up to be. If the Norwegian regulations are not a copy of FIM SSP300 and you need to compete with R3 with its stock engine internals- then in that case Yamaha is definitely having a huge disadvantage...

    Building a 2022 race bike

Having the kid (13) racing past 4 years at Supersport 300 class I can't really imagine the reason for moving from R3 to 390 as neither of the platforms is able to compete with Ninja 400 at class with mild modifications allowed (intake, exhaust and fuel tuning). I presume your R3 does have the...

    2022 First Race Review

Good review! So @Superpacman13 what's your judgment, are we to see KTM-s coming back to 300 class as a machine of choice solely through the frame changes?

    rebuilding an '15 RC390 motor

Head decking might not also be an absolute solution for the old style head with no bridge at the cooling gallery. I have seen a decked head that were flat as a mirror after machining on getting out of speck at the exhaust cooling bridge weakest area after already some months, and could only...

    rebuilding an '15 RC390 motor

I would say it gets opened up at least 3-4 times per season so after every 6 weeks or so.

    rebuilding an '15 RC390 motor

Have not managed to blow any head gaskets after going for head studs and increased torque, but can't say for sure is it really due to that or just because the fact the engine's top end has been that frequently opened up for inspection that I have managed to replace the gaskets before they have...

    rebuilding an '15 RC390 motor

Hi. Can also recommend replacing OEM head bolts with hardened head studs and nuts. Got last these from Spears and they are really made of a strong material and have not managed to get the old design head leaking after by going up to 70nm/52lb torque on nuts. Spears studs need to be machined...

Question Newer engine to older frame

Maybe someone has more experience to comment, what are the options to get the gear indicator/neutral to work for the 2019 engine at the 2015 frame, dash and ECU? To a bit of surprise were to me the gear pickup mechanism from the shift drum has been redesigned physically and logically for the...

Should you buy cheap bodywork. No, no you should not!

Tyga bodywork is the best. Had one person who has been working long producing fiberglass parts looking at these once needing to fix and commented that for racing purpose- Tyga fairings parts have put too much quality and effort into :D

    engine swap

Digging up this old topics, but did not quite get a definite confirmation from an earlier thread if a newer year (2018) engine could be placed to 2015 390 if maintaining the old type throttle body? I understand from other connectors point of view (except gear indicator) all plugs in the same?

Good lord the OEM wheels are heavy!!

I don't know from what alloy have they exactly poured these wheels out of, but they are indeed heavy as heck even when compared with some 1000cc wheels. Regulations at ssp300 classes usually restrict the use of any other wheels aside from OEM, but I am sure on the racing track, the set of...

    Hi-Comp Thin Head Gasket

50 miles- I had the new thin gasket blowing on 4th lap after the change (the head were freshly machined flat). Can not blame the gasket though but the design of the head. After that one blowing, I replaced the head bolts with hardened studs and over-torqued the bejeezus out of them. Normal...

    Engine main bearings

Some guy at the Duke forum actually decided to press out the parts and found these to have a Baja spare code JY541023 even at them and sharing the same spare as Dominar 400 engine. https://www.ktmduke390forum.com/threads/main-bearings.43765/page-2
