Sliding Plate on Shift Shaft Wear

KTM part number for reference: 90234005033

I encountered major shifting issues with the bike which started as a stiff shifting feel and ended with no shifting into 5th at all.
On inspection I found this sliding plate to be pretty badly notched out but I was surprised to find no other issues within the transmission assembly, I was expecting a bent selector fork.

Bike has less than 2000km on it, 2015 RC390, and has been race only since run in.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Hi! Yes, this shift plate component is another good example of KTM-s quality (at least on early models) as I had the same component replaced after some 5 hours of riding on a brand new CUP bike. The "grabbig hooks" had completely worne off what rotate the gear shaft so as for a temporary fix I did recover the hooks with round file as the part was made of such a soft material it could be worked with chainsaw round file.

New part what came in was already much better quality as the material of sliding plates was hardened and I could not even manage to scrape the new part with the file.

Thanks for the reply.
Good to know that the new parts have been improved...interesting that KTM have decided to practice the same customer service policy that Ducati use; "Sucked in customer"

I replaced mine last year, easy to do, as well as fitting the aftermarket detent arm (factorypro) and the shift shaft support. Combined with the quickshifter and all has been good on the shifting front!
