Thats what I figured. Not particularly do able for a weekend hacker with only open source tools. Curious, I understand with your tools it's fairly trivial to tweak the lookup tables, but I'm assuming there are PIDs controlling the injectors/timing, do you guys ever tweak on the PID gains or...
Wow this is a super cool project. You mind go over the software and hardware tools you are using? Calculating the CRC and signing I figure are proprietary (i.e., expensive and hard to get). I'm fairly technically minded but don't know a whole lot about reverse engineering an ECU. I looked...
Nah, I'll just work harder at the gym. What I'm searching for now is better hard late braking. It's finding the balance of rear end coming up vs ground clearance vs preserving a certain desired geometry.
I dunno if oversteer is ever a problem on these bikes -- there is another explanation...
Yeah on the RC a lot of fast guys do the "chopper" setup -- Ari Henning reportedly being one at least at one point but I didn't look closely at his bike this past weekend so he may have changed it. I agree it totally sounds like the wrong direction to me -- but they certainly aren't dumb or...
I have a race only 390. I run the GP Suspension cartridges with the caps just above the triple clamp (about 5mm). Also run the JRI shock and it is height adjustable and I have it ~8mm over stock -- I've messed around with it a lot trying to get a compromise of ground clearance vs. rear wheel...
2.7.2 Eligible Machines
The class will be based around the machines sold in Europe as A2 classmachines and excluding the A1 class machines. The Superbike Commission hasthe right to decide which machines will eligible in the class.
For 2017 the following...
I think then you would be the expert at designing such a system. My idea was to record the lambda with a scope and play it back, shifted up on down, using a micro controller. What stopped me was the required dyno time to test the system.

This was all started before there were any piggyback ECUs available. I highly recommend the Power Commander V from ktmperformance.com.

Gone through tech for 2 seasons now doing that. Though your mileage may vary depending on who is doing tech. Technically the bellypan is a catch system. *shrug*

The Athena appears to be a piggyback ECU. You keep the stock ECU in place and splice into various sensors like the PCV. See: http://www.getdata.it/data/documentation/sito/Gestione_motore/ECUJ5/Download/Manuali/GD_MIP_0022_AC.pdf

I did some research awhile back on a home-brew crack of the ECU and it wouldn't be easy. It requires quite a bit of specialized equipment to connect to the debug lines of the ECU and a high risk of destroying the ECU. Not only that the firmware and maps are encrypted, so if you cannot...
There is a 300mm option (KTM Store :: KTM Street Powerparts :: 390 DUKE :: Brakes :: KTM 390 WAVE BRAKE DISK 300MM) which is the same diameter as stock. For me the brake fade wasn't too terrible with the stock setup, I switched because I was running a super bike build this season (though now...
FYI: Keep an eye out for the wear on the Brembo pads. I got about 3-4 weekends out of them. Definitely better pads then the EBC. Also, I still got some fade with the Brembo pads and stock rotor and master cylinder. I switched to the 320 floating rotor and Brembo MC and now don't get any fade.
Glad the interwebs wasn't around to advise me when I bought my first few bikes. There were some terrible choices that went well beyond my skill level that I still fondly remember over the past 30 years. Motorcycling is a hobby and sport of passion and what you ride shouldn't be dictated by...
Cool, thanks for the detailed comparison. Probably try the 140 for my next race. I'm working the same to rely less on lean angle and hang off in a more modern style. I don't mind less stable. Mind sharing your pressures off the warmers? I'm currently running 31-26 (SC1 front SC2 150 rear)...
