I have the EXACT same symptoms on my bike. Almost always smoke on start up. Since its a track bike, it only gets ridden rarely. I suspect valve seals, but my bike only has like 5k miles on it also.
Paging Fasteddy....
He helped me with mine and it works like a dream. You need to put a resistor in the ABS to trick the computer. I have my front ABS ring to keep the speedo. I forgot the details but Fasteddy will know. Message him if he doesn't see this. Other than that you just unplug...
From what I understand, Koyos are japanese made and better quality than stock. They can also be had pretty cheap if you buy them separately. Ceramic would be nice but im sure the difference would be not noticeable. I wouldnt buy them but thats because im cheap.
I got mine from forum member Kayabusa (I think that was the name, can get more info if needed). Good price they look GREAT. Super thick vinyl. He may be able to do something custom. Pic in my signature.
I had to make a special tool to get the cap off to access the spring. it is a PAIN. Basically glued on with loc-tite. Use lots of heat. More than you would expect.
This is basically what I did. I remember that i am running more that 10mm of preload though. Not the max amount but pretty high up there. My memory is hazy but the goal was to match the total lengths of all spaces and spring.
for oil, factory is 450ML (I did not use oil height). I hear it...
Does anyone have a diagram or tutorial how to install a manual fan switch? From what I understand you just run it off the battery >fuse> switch> fan power. It is for a track bike and currently my fan is kicking on pretty much right as I park the bike after a session. Would like to run it when...
It's easy to keep the speedo. Take out the plumbing and put in a resistor that goes to the ABS unit. The computer wont throw an error and you retain the speedo. Forum member fasteddy did it on mine.
Ive seen them brand new for $3500 by me from the deal on 2017s. Not to be pessimistic... but i think its wise to buy one with a full warranty. That said, I bought mine used for $3500. shop around I bet there are some NOS deals out there.
Finally. I was looking for more downforce on the sides. But seriously those side panels are awesome. Wish they were a little bit cheaper. The nose is cool too but it doesnt look like its part of the same kit.
You can just remove the unit and use the stock lines to reconnect everything. Forum user Fasteddy helped me with mine. He used a resistor to clear the ABS error on the dash. Works great now and dropped a bit of weight.
