Need general consensus on best front and rear rotors - 2019 Model

I have a Braketech cast iron front rotor on mine. It might be a 310mm diameter. I am not sure, it has been a while since I put it on and right now my 390 is packed up in boxes waiting to be moved into my new shop. I like the better feel, feed back and initial bite of cast iron over stainless...

    RC390 Front Disc possibilities

I have a Braketech Axis Iron rotor on my 2015 RC390. It is a 310mm rotor and significantly improved braking just by bolting it on. But I cannot find it on the braketech web site. It might have been discontinued do to lack of interest. I know mine was one of the first they made.

    Front brake

I have been looking at this. Nothing real simple or cheap. easiest would be to find a Moto3 set of forks, but expensive. And there would be engineering time to get triple clamps made to work with them. next option would be late model forks off of a 600cc bike. but same fit work would need...

    Bits of info

That is in the casting and probably extends to the opposite wall of the water jacket. it is a different color because it sits bellow the plane of the head that is machined. The tool that cuts the casting flat never touches that new section. Not sure how that protects the head gasket; unles...

    Hi New Memeber from Massachusetts

The RC is a good track bike, once you upgrade the suspension and brakes. I went from an R1 track bike to my RC 390. The smaller bike is more fun on the track and less physical to ride.

My first RC390 :) Ongoing review..

you might want to rethink the 7mm drop of the front. I lowered mine 6mm when I had it at Laguna Seca on the recommendation of a suspension tuning guy that has a lot of experience. Turn in was a bit better than the 3mm drop I had been trying for a couple of sessions. But I started to...

    Coolant level... Water wetter question.

I have used water wetter in my past track bikes and will use it again when my RC 390 becomes a track only bike. It is basically a surfactant that lowers the surface tension between the walls of the cooling passages and the cooling water. This gives better (faster) heat transfer between the...

    Coolant overflow pipe snapped

the McMaster Carr number is 4406T14. The part that comes does not look exactly like the image in the drawing. The threads are much shorter and the barbed end longer. If your nipple on the overflow tank did not break off cleanly, with a relatively flat face, you might have to flatten it out.

    Coolant overflow pipe snapped

I replaced mine with a stainless steel nipple sized for the existing drain tube that had a #10-32 thread on one side and an O-ring seal. I bought it on line for the McMaster Carr web site. The through hole in the plastic tank, where the original nipple broke off, is almost the same diameter as...

    How much?

I bought mine with a plan to make it a track only bike. So far the has included just under $2K to rebuild the forks to cartridge type and a new rear shock. Clip on bars were added to give some ability to adjust riding position and a new cast iron 310mm diameter front rotor for better feel and...

Best practices on how to keep your engine cooler

run more water and less anti freeze. I live in California and my bike is not stored outside in freezing weather. What I did with mine was drain the coolant that was in the bike when I picked it up and just refilled with distilled water. There was enough residual antifreeze in the system to...

    Fuel Leak Left Fairing

that black cylinder is a charcoal canister that absorbs and stores fuel vapor coming off of the top of the fuel tank. And then feeds the vapor back into the induction track. If it is leaking fuel you some how manage to saturate it with liquid fuel. Disconnect the hose that runs to the intake...

    Clutch Failure on the Track!

if you still have drive to the rear wheel it is not the clutch pack. The cable sheath adjustment is probably loose at the lever. Or you did break some of the strands of the clutch cable and it is stretching. You can see movement on the lever arm on the outside of the case but it might not be...

    Ordering Missing Parts

you can buy better quality M6 fasteners from the local hardware store or on line from McMaster Carr. I changed out all of my faring fasteners once I noticed the stock ones rounding their edges after taking the faring off a couple of times.

    Air cover

be careful if you park the bike in the rain. water will run down between the seat and the tank cover and drip onto the filter. Moderate rain would be OK but a few hours in a heavy rain might make a mess of the air box.

Advices Needed- BROKEN Headlight and Nose

There is a big heavy steel sheet metal part that holds all of that to the steering head. From looking at the picture there is a good chance it is bent but not destroyed. If you are planing on making the bike a track day toy, no head light, mirrors and such, you can just cut off what you do not...

Akrapo map installed... questions on canister an tubes.

you can get rid of it all. Take the nipple off the intake manifold and replace with a screw, put a bit of RTV under the head for a nice air tight seal. If you unplug and remove the diaphragm valve, or what ever that think in picture two is, you will get an error code and a warning light on the...
