found some extra parts in my case

I'm fine not a scratch.
So I low sided over the weekend and ground a hole in my stator cover.
I pulled the cover, and in the case I found a short 8mm bolt, but there are no bolt missing from that side of the engine that I can see.
I also found a valve shim on the floor next to the bike.
It's possible i dropped the shim sometime in the past, but I don't think so.

The bike kept running for a few seconds while it laid on it's side.
Is it possible a shim could have or bolt could have come out and made it's way down there?
Looking at the motor there doesn't seem to be a path, but wondering if I should pull the motor apart?
Anyone else found extra parts in their motor?

Unfortunately, it's not I have all the screws that were in the cover itself, it's the same size, but this on is in addition to those.
I think I'm going to have to pull the motor and take it apart.
I think whoever put the motor together may have accidently left the bolt there, but that's a pricey gamble for me to take.

Well that's a bummer. Any plans to do a write up or video on pulling the motor and tearing it down =)?
