My lower gears shift with a clunk and it doesn't matter how slow or deliberate I make the shift. There is almost no slack at the clutch lever.

Are you talking on up shift, or downshifting? I've noticed mine is more "clunky" than any other bike I've owned on downshifting...... Up shifting on my RC is silky-smooooooth. I wish I could understand the "clunky-ness" on downshifting...... Anybody else experienced what I'm talking about?

You probably should check / adjust the engine end of the cable at the bell crank....

It is only on the upshift to second and third. Down is smooth with the slipper. I will try adjusting the angle of the lower arm.

You were right. There was too much slack cable at the clutch end. Thanks, Bob.
