Race Build

Ok, just picked up the bike today and got it home. Of course the first thing I'm going to do is start taking it apart!
First impression of the fit/finish/quality. It's not a Ducati! ;) Fit and finish are to be expected from a 6k bike.
I took the seats and tank cover off, and the first thing I noticed on this particular bike is that some fasteners are relatively loose, and some are pretty tight.
So much so that 2 of the fasteners that held the bodywork to the tank needed to be drilled out as the fasteners buggered up before the bolts broke free.
I was able to drill easy enough and use and extractor to remove them. Other fasteners were pretty tough as well.
My initial assessment is that there are plenty of opportunities for weight loss with this setup. I need to put some breaking miles on it before I start with the real work.
This should be a fun bike to build up. 2015-04-22 17.51.20.jpg2015-04-23 00.02.28.jpg

I installed a K@N air filter, and new levers tonight.
More to follow.

Good work fella , if its s dedicated track bike 20lbs is easy to loose 30lbs is possible , maybe more but my race regs wont allow things like loom to be cut or un used brackets on the frame to be cut off , was wanting to cut the rear sub frame off and replace with a light weight ally version .

Last check on the scales at work i was 145kg race ready with 3l of fuel and obviously all fluids . Still on stock seat , rear seat , belly pan and exhaust , i recon theirs 6lbs loss once replaced for glass fiber .

Uses stock mounting points and attaches to your side panels. I ditched the stock fairing stay, and designed my own race stay to fit. Hopefully will be offering them soon.

Haven't started on it yet so no updates. I need to install termi system on my panigale before I move stuff back to the garage.

Alright, it' super cold out, and since I spend most of the day in my garage, I figure there's nothing wrong with working on the KTM in the basement since that's where all the parts are. My stands are in my storage facility, so I'm working on the ground for now. Installed tapered steering bearings and forks, clip-ons and swingarm.

A little bit more progress. Just mocking a few things up for the moment so that I can remember where all the fasteners go.
In the next couple of days I'll be measuring and replacing all the fasteners on the frame that I have not yet replaced with lighter components. There are also a few more weight savings that I will be taking care of while its in this state too.
It's just too cold out tonight to be playing in the garage.
I'll get one of my kids to help me drag this out of the basement before I reinstall the engine.
My wife hates me.

Picked up my motor from Chad at Commonwealth today.
Managed to get it back in the frame tonight. Hopefully I'll get the rest done tomorrow and get some head cycles in it.
